Another group was given 4 letter blends or three letter words to make a sentence. Similar strategy was used to form questions with the given words.

Students were shown a visual presentation on the cause and effect of air pollution. The facilitator explained all the possible reasons for air pollution and what could be done to control it. The students thereafter inquired by asking questions related to air pollution. Later, they reflected on the presentation and illustrated the same.
In a practical demonstration, an experiment on air pollution was shown to the students. A candle was lit and then covered with a Pyrex cover, demonstrating how smoke around us can make things dirty. Students understood that the soot from the burning candle was responsible for pollution.

Group one activity was where students were given a pair of socks which were labelled and hung on a string and they practiced counting when lined in a row. Group two did skip counting bracelets till 20. Students first sorted the set of beads by color and then strung them together in a pipe cleaner and did counting by 2’s.

Provocation was set up for the new theme “Festivals around the world”. Students explored the festive decorations and artifacts displayed in the classroom.
They also talked about different celebrations at their home and illustrated the same.This was later scribed and assembled on a poster to resemble a twitter wall.Students went on to interview and interact with different people in the school and found out different festivals celebrated by them. The information thus collected was collated into known and unknown celebrations.
The concept of two dimensional shapes was initiated wherein the students were shown pictures of a chess board, doughnut, bus etc. and were asked questions like what is common between all these pictures, is there any similarity between these?

Delving deep into the inquiry of the ongoing theme, this week students had an opportunity to meet a guest speaker Ms.Parul Sablok. Ms. Sablok told how a father and a mother play the role of head and heart of the family .And how these roles are complementary to each other.

To assess their understanding on the first line of inquiry, students were given a cut out of a house and colour coded name tags for each member such as red- mother, yellow- father, brother - green and orange- sister grandparents – purple, helpers-blue, pet- white. They pasted these name tags on the cut out to show the members in their family.

To understand the progression of the numbers a very interesting gross motor game was played in the class. In which numbers were written on their hands and they arranged themselves in the correct order from smallest to largest. Students also practiced number formation using sand tray, slates and on the notebooks
Reinforcement of Hindi swars –“a, aa” was done through videos, sand tray, slates and worksheets. Writing on the five line Hindi notebook was also initiated in which the swar “a and aa” were written and the illustrations were drawn.
Students creatively expressed about the members in their family through stick drawings in their Art Files.

FIRST WEEK
The school was buzzing with lot of positive energy and enthusiasm as children joined us back after the summer break. We welcome children on this journey of learning and growing together.
Students were welcomed and introduced to the facilitators. They were allotted cubby holes for keeping their bags and bottles. Later they enjoyed the game where children rolled the dice and answered the corresponding question.
Students reflected on how they spent their summer vacations by way of drawing.
Essential agreements were established in the class through a spider web game and students were also familiarized with the names of different objects in the class example: smart board, stationery, and projector.
Leaner profile attributes- Caring was emphasized and children’s attention was drawn towards learner profile board.
Recapitulation of phonic sounds was done through mystery bag game.
Learner profile attributes were discussed through power point presentation.
Students were shown a calendar and asked about the importance of numbers.
As a part of numeracy, number hunt game was played in which they were asked to find out numbers in the class.Students also did quantity association with the number symbol by counting number of tables, chairs, cubby holes in the class.
Students introduced themselves in Hindi and talked about themselves and their family.They were also taken for a nature walk and they tried to name things in Hindi which they observed during the nature walk .The Story of” Sunhera Hans” was shown to the children it was followed by discussion about the characters. Students did pattern writing in the notebooks.
